Remembering the Victims

On behalf of Etemeya magazine and her entire associates, we send our utmost sympathy to all the people affected by the hurricane Katrina the deadliest wrath of nature in southern history. The worst about watching the Katrina's aftermath on TV is the helplessness we all feel inside.

The haunting faces of the confused children; the weak in desperate need of medical emergency; the women curdling their little ones and the abandoned dead bodies that could no longer speak for itself, are all shameful images we are sure will remain in our memories for a very long time to come.

While the rest of us are counting our blessings we want you all to know that we feel your despair, and we know we can only imagine what you all are going through. Although, we may never fully understand the enormity of the anguish brought upon by this hurricane, we will always keep you all in our thoughts and in our prayers.

Nature or universe is what man may never understand to its full extent but at the test of time we are free to question God as to why and how a loving God could allow humans to experience such suffering. We are free to ask such question as to why these particular people are the chosen victims and why anybody at all. In the end we can only hope that as it has been said, that there is no greater education than matriculating through the “University of Hard Knocks.” One should therefore be certain, many who have passed through such large scale tragedy of unlimited proportion found themselves infinitely better from the experience. Unpleasant experience indeed, but we are sure the southern hospitality will not be subdued by it.

The world is moving faster now; giving us no chance to catch our breath. All signs indicated we’re on a changing course as nothing seems to stand still. ‘Yester-days’ looking nothing like today has become mere dream. The gas hike, the crime, the wars -at home and abroad, and the heightened nature’s wrath are threatening human social set up. It is at this hour; when nothing held together or seems to make slightest bit of sense, we aught to be each other’s stable force.

Buildings brought down to ground level; many families displaced; lives lost and the entire city is in ruin. Catastrophe of this magnitude affects us all so please donate generously to notable hurricane Katrina relief agencies.
