Decoding an evil General is not as simple as disrobing from camouflage to Adire (tie and dye) as President Obasanjo would have us believed.
Without a doubt, the most dangerous threat to a civil society lies with what might be called Obasanjology, an exercise of raw military power disguised as civilian rule, oblivious to the fundamental human rights and to the highest law of the land —the constitution. Unfortunately, some Nigerians remain blissfully unaware of the deadly implications of this doctrine.
This doctrine is particularly deadly because it fools patriots, international democracy watchdog and worst of all, it fools the very citizens upon whom the evil is exerted. It institutionalizes hostility against citizens, demonstrates unending hunger for unchecked power and prohibits liberal respect for life. Evil, vengeance and assassination are prevalence to the regime that holds such doctrine as obasanjology.
Indeed, the initial traits are such frantic clutching to power and tactical engagement of stooges that are let loose to attack patriotic citizens at every civic engagement. These elements embodied the shallowness and callousness of an evil General’s mind at work.
Why Third Term?
Considering President Obasanjo's age, 'third term' means life time. Obasanjo is a dishonest manipulator exploiting the sad situation in Niger Delta to advance his political security with the western world. However, America and British government have found him to be a greedy user playing the foreign oil companies against the people of Niger Delta, hence, they immediately lax his security ties. Faced with Western opposition and the possibility of heavily use of bad publicity; a sign for prosecution for corruption and rights abuse come the end of his reign. And coupled with his failure to find "trustworthy replacement" for his government, Baba carved out "Third Term."
Focus should be shifted to Obasanjo for the killing of the American oil worker in Nigeria. He alone stands to gain from the killing, as this creates an avenue to go on killing spree propaganda to prove he's protecting America's interest. Obsanjo has remained the President of evil with the highest numbers of manmade causalities during his regime than any other leader in Nigerian history. For those who had been holding their breath for elongation of Obasanjo’s term or for his re-election come 2007 must be ready to suffocate or have their efforts altogether wasted because the party is over.
Assuming Obasanjo possesses the same power as the divine Dinga Cisse of Wagadugu Empire, he will still fail in his bid to play 'ogboni politics’ upon the Nigerian citizens. Not to dismiss in totality, the president's achievement, it is a fact that he successfully made adire into official wear even though it makes it harder to spot him among his livestock. His iconic fashion adviser deserves to be enshrined into "Space Odyssey" 2007. Although, federally funding adire classes throughout the University would have been a better achievement.
We have the "privilege" to agree or disagree with our leaders and the option to take actions against them. The Nigerian masses may be slow at taking the full advantage of the enabling technology to recruit support and organize, however, progress is been made in democracy arena. It used to take 5 years for Emergency news alert to pass from one end of the world to the other. Information age has shrunk news time to a fraction of second. This development spell trouble for tyrants because information is power to the people and lack of information is power to tyrants. Let me be direct, a well informed society is a freer, and stronger society.
Number is power, I have said this before. I wrote on “Russian KKK” and urge readers to call Amnesty International, only about 25 people called yet it was enough to effect a reaction from Amnesty http://web.amnesty.org/pages/rus-050506-news-eng
We can do better than that. In the data base, Etemeya.com has about 1658 email addresses of Nigerians in Diaspora. If other well-meaning Nigerian organizations are not too afraid to take a stand against evil of “Third Term” the result will surprise us all. Silence is as deadly as the evil of the perpetrator. Take a stand, you owe it to your self and your children; born and unborn. it is our obligation to join forces and resources to organize rallies against evil government.
