Ebira Vonya International Aides to Anebira-Ihima Crisis

EBIRA VONYA INTERNATIONAL

Dear Beloved Ebirans:

RE: Crisis in Ebiraland

On behalf of Ebira Vonya International, we are writing to you to express our (sons and daughters of Ebira land, residing at different regions of the world) deepest concerns over the violence and senseless destruction of lives and properties across the entire ebira land.
In case you have not heard of the existence of EVI, we would like to provide you with a little bit of background information.
The members of EVI are citizens of Ebiraland-Nigeria, and the world at large. Our members reside all over the world.
The organization, a non-political movement, is established for the benevolent and charitable purposes of promoting and developing the unity, social, economical, justice, peace, moral, educational, cultural and general welfare of all Ebira people and community all over the world by maintaining their social and organising, supporting and promoting mutual help and succour to those of them who are in need.

We are writing to you to acknowledge that we have heard of the on-going crisis (resulting from clannish sentiments) in Ebiraland that have led to the destruction of properties and innocent lives. We have heard of your suffering in particular, the Ihima crisis, the biggest crisis thus far in Ebiraland. We are writing to you to commend your efforts in staying strong in the face of these evils and to let you know that we share your sorrow with you. We would like to urge you not to give up your fight while you continue to stay strong.

Today, we (all members of EVI) have collectively raised money to buy food items to be given to you as a symbolic sign of our acknowledgement of your suffering. Though these items are far from being sufficient in terms of alleviating your problems, we are nevertheless asking you to accept them as a sign of our solidarity with you in this crisis. It is the intention of this organization to continue to stay in touch with you and solicit for helps for you from various organizations.
Although we cannot provide shelters to replace your properties or bring the lives of lost ones back to you but you and us can prevent future crisis from occurring by joining hands together to fight the evils that have befallen our land. To succeed in this endeavour we will need to do the following:

• Accepting that all Anebira are same and equal irrespective of clannish background.
• Putting behind us all clannish sentiments and not harboring the need to retaliate for past evils.
• Accepting that Ebiraland is our land to live in and that we need to coexist peacefully.
• Helping each other when needed.
• Helping your communities and their leaders in the fight against evils (thugs and mischievous youths).
• Educating your children right from their early ages to tolerate all people irrespective of their clannish background.
• Participate in community activities geared toward promoting peaceful coexistence among Anebira.

The crisis in Ebiraland has been left for too long to culminate into its current heightened and unbearable state. We believe that if we work together we can defeat this evil and create a united group of people with bright future. We are asking for your help in this plight; it is a shame to continue to live in this situation that has generated fear in Ebiraland and despise of Anebira by other people in Nigeria. We wish you and us success in bringing an end to the social vises in Ebiraland.
